Spitting Your Way To Fame
Matt “BB Gun” Krause carried on his family’s spitacular tradition when he won he finished first in the annual International Cherry Pit Spitting Championship held in Eau Claire, Michigan. That makes the 25th time a Krause has won out of a total of 40 championship competitions that have been held.
His winning spit traversed an amazing 41 feet 6.5 inches. That was over 1 foot better than 2nd place finisher, Mark Yelo’s 40 foot 3.5 inch spit.
As remarkable as the Krause’s spitting acumen may be, the world record belongs to a Swiss man, Thomas Steinhower who spit a pit a remarkable 83 feet 9 inches, beating the previous record by more than 2 feet.
However when measuring Matt’s achievement it must be noted that he was spitting into the wind. I wonder if the Krause family has a spitting range on their property. That might explain the family’s spitting ability and also why both the mailman and newspaper boy run instead of walk when making their deliveries.
